Lakshmi Narayan Mandir is located west of Connaught Place in New Delhi. Created by Raja Baldev Das in 1938, is dedicated to Vishnu and goddess Lakshmi. Also known as Birla Mandir in New Delhi, this temple has a rather interesting story attached to it. Built over a period of six years, the temple was inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi. But he kept a condition that will inaugurate the Delhi Laxmi Narain Temple that if people of all castes especially untouchables, would be able to enter. The temple is one of the main drag of the city and is visited by many devotees and international tourists each year.

Lakshmi Narayan Mandir is built beautifully, but with a modern twist. The interior decoration of the temples are decorated with beautiful sculptures depicting scenes from mythology. Many Hindu symbols and quotes from the Gita and Upanishads decorating the walls of the temple. The highest Shikara (tower) in the temple rises to a height of 165 m, while the other is 116 feet east and was on a raised platform, Birla Mandir in Delhi also enshrines the sacred Vedas . The main sanctuary is dedicated to Lord Narayan and Goddess Lakshmi, while the smaller ones are of Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesh and Hanuman and goddess Durga. North of New Delhi Laxmi Narain Temple Geeta Bhawan, dedicated to Lord Krishna.There is also a temple of Buddha in this temple, decorated with murals depicting his life and work. All the statues in the temple is composed of marble and were brought from Jaipur.
